In addition to offering general dentistry such as fillings and professional teeth cleaning, we offer the following:

Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that fits over a damaged, discolored, or misshaped teeth. This procedure has several advantages over other tooth restoration procedures. Porcelain is an extremely durable material with a color, translucence and texture that is similar to tooth enamel. It is not susceptible to decay and resists staining while maintaining a natural appearance. Veneers can effectively close diastemas (gaps between teeth), lengthen and reshape teeth, repair chipped, broken, or misshapen teeth, and cover stains and discolorations.

Porcelain veneers usually require at least two appointments to be completed. The length of time of each appointment will depend on the condition of your teeth and on how many veneers you are having done. The procedure is done in your dentist’s office with a local anesthetic and is relatively pain-free.

Crowns
At the initial consultation Dr. Talley will determine where the cause of your tooth problems lie. If a tooth is damaged, fractured, or decayed beyond repair, a crown may be suggested. If a tooth needs to be extracted, or has already been removed, a bridge may be the solution. The different approaches to solving your dental problems will be presented during the initial consultation and you can decide what is best for your dental goals and your finances.

Which one is the Crown?

Bridges
You have one or more missing teeth due to decay or an accident. This loss changes the look of your smile, your bite, and puts stress on surrounding teeth to compensate for the lost tooth. One option Dr. Talley may suggest for replacing the lost tooth is with a bridge. The missing tooth is replaced with an artificial tooth connected between two crowns (caps) which are permanently cemented or bonded on the adjacent teeth.

Whitening
We use SmileLite™ for the lightest, whitest smile only your dentist can provide.
Home "teeth bleaching techniques" are designed to lighten dark or stained teeth. SmileLite's proprietary formula does just that!

  • Virtually Sensitivity-Free System!
  • Great Cool Mint Flavor!
  • Thick, Fast-Whitening Gel!
  • 16% Carbamide Peroxide

The amount of bleaching and it's duration might vary. While most teeth lighten to the extent desired, some do not. In some instances lightening is minimal or unapparent. In all instances, additional bleaching over time may be required to maintain the color originally obtained.

Dental Implants
Dental Implants offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. For over 30 years, dental implants have brought naturally beautiful, confident smiles to patients. A dental implant is a small titanium screw or cylinder which is surgically placed in the upper or lower jawbone. The implant replaces the root of the missing tooth, providing an anchor for your new tooth/teeth. Many patients choose dental implants over other procedures because the result is a natrual healty apperance which is permanent, which does not damage the adjacent teeth, and prevents bone loss where tooth is missing.

Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is diagnosed from your x-rays and Dr. Talley's examination. Periodontal disease is the major cause of tooth loss, it can be painless and have not symptoms until it is too late. The process of infection can be stopped and controlled by treatment. The first stage of the disease is gingivitis. Gingivitis is an infection in the gum. The infection causes the gums to pull away from the teeth leaving space between the tooth and the gum. These spaces are called pockets. The bacteria then moves down the tooth to the supporting bone and destroys the bone that holds your teeth in your mouth. This is called bone loss. Your teeth become loose and they fall out or are extracted. Treatment may include four initial visits.

Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal Therapy (RCT) consists of removing the nerve from the inside of the tooth and placing an inert filling material into the space.

Why we do this...

Root Canal Therapy is indicated when decay reaches the nerve chamber causing irreversible damage to the nerve. Sometimes the nerve may "die" due to some type of trauma or occasionally for unknown reasons and will abscess. Normally upon successful completion of the RCT, the properly restored tooth will continue to function as a normal tooth. Root canal treatment is approximately 90% successful. In those few cases that it is not successful, loss of the tooth is inevitable, or root canal surgery, or root canal retreatment may be necessary.

What happens if this is not done....
Eventual or immediate loss of the tooth.

How we do it...
Root Canal Therapy is performed by:

  • Making a small opening on the tooth
  • Consequently, the infected tissues are removed from the canal and the empty canals are enlarged slightly.
  • Filling material, which seals and medicates the canal(s) is placed.
  • The tooth is now ready for final restoration. Usually a crown is indicated to protect the tooth.

Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic Bonding on the anterior or front teeth is an excellent method for repairing minor imperfections such as chips and stains. It can also be used to fill gaps between the teeth called diastemas. Although no cosmetic dentistry procedure can take the place of good oral and periodontal hygiene, bonding can brighten your smile quickly and easily.

Oral Surgery - Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the third molars. Normally people have three permanent molars that develop in each quadrant of the mouth: upper right, lower right, upper left, and lower left.

Impaction
When widsom teeth are prevented from erupting into the mouth properly, they are referred to as impacted.

When should wisdom teeth be removed?
The following symptoms may indicate removal of a or all wisdom teeth:

  • Pain
  • Infection in the mouth
  • Facial Swelling
  • Swelling of the gumline in the back of the mouth

Many oral health specialists recommend removal of wisdom teeth, as early removal will help to eliminate problems, such as an impacted tooth that destroys the second molar. Third molar impaction is the most prevalent medical development disorder.

What problems are associated with impacted third molars?

  • Bacteria and Plaque Buildup
  • Cysts Development (A fluid filled sac)
  • Tumor Development
  • Infection
  • Jaw and Gum Disease

What is involved in the extraction procedure?
Wisdom tooth extraction involves accessing the tooth through the soft and hard tissue, gently detaching the connective tissue between the tooth and the bone and removing the tooth.

Fluoride
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by slowing the breakdown of enamel and speeding up the natural remineralization process. Unfortunately most people assume that the floride they get from their toothpaste and tap water is adequate for their needs. This is not always the case.

Fluoride provides the following protection for you:

    • Advanced Gum Disease Control
    • Cavity Control
    • Crown & Bridge Maintenance
    • Crown and Root Surface Carie
    • Dentures and Partials
    • Early Gum Disease Control
    • Gum Maintenance
    • Implant Maintenance
    • Orthadonic Maintenance
    • Post Surgical Rinse
    • Sensitivity

Sealants
Sealants are a clear, acrylic-like material that helps shield out decay-causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. It is recommended that sealants be applied to a child's primary (baby) molars by th age of three or four years. Once the six-year molars (the first permanent back teeth) appear, it is best to apply sealants as soon as possible. As a child's most cavity-prone years continue until the mid-teens, the premolars should also be sealed as they appear. Sealants material bonds to the chewing surface of the back teeth, forming a protective barrier covering the pits and fissures (depressions and grooves) of the chewing surfaces. Sealants are an intermediate preventive step in delaying or preventing tooth decay on these areas of back teeth.
